Hey, everyone! This is the third and final in the character interview series for Would You Have Believed Me? which is publishing tomorrow! Don’t miss this wonderful book!
Eric rises from the chair to be replaced by the same young girl I had met hurrying from the house earlier, Justine.
I extend my hand, offering her a smile which she returns despite the bags beneath her eyes. “Annya Qunitero.”
Her head bobs in acknowledgment, her handshake firm. “I’m sorry I had to run off like that earlier. Last moment errands I had promised Mom I would do before the big day.” She fidgets in her seat, her gaze flicking away for a moment.
“Not a problem. Shall we begin?”
She excuses herself for a moment to grab us two cups of hot tea…

Camille gets up to leave and a young man with blond
hair takes her place across the kitchen table from me.
Smiling, I extend my hand. “Annya Quintero, freelance
writer.”
His adam’s apple bobs and he offers me a shy smile
with a firm handshake. “Eric. Justine said you’re interviewing all of us
because of her mom’s new man?”
I nod.“The
author I work for is quite interested in having the word get out about all of
you. Any questions for me before we get started?”
He shakes his head so I grab my pen and pad once more.
Annya:
Justine and Camille clearly feel you’re a big part of this story. What part do
you play in all of this?
“I’m Justine’s boyfriend. We’ve known each other for basically
our whole lives.”
Annya:
What do you think of Justine’s step-father-to-be, Dirk?
He shrugs. “Seems like a decent guy. Kinda quiet
sometimes, but he picked Mrs. Leonard (Justine’s mom) up when she needed it
most. Anyone who does that is okay in my book. He really seems to have been
what they both needed.”
Annya:
When you say he “picked her up,” what do you mean?
Shifting in his seat, he tugs at the collar of his shirt.
“Things were hard for them—they would have been for anyone—but I guess I’m
biased. I really hated seeing Justine, especially, go through losing her dad. They
were both used to a third person being there so Dirk balances the scales again.”
Annya:
How did Justine’s father pass?
“That’s really their business. I don’t think it would
be right for me to share. It was a very difficult time for them and if people
are really that curious then they can look it up in the local papers.”
Annya:
What did you think of Dirk the first time you met him?
A tinge of red creeps up his neck. “He and Mrs.
Leonard seemed happy.” Looking away, his blush deepens. “Off the record? It
felt like watching my parents as teenagers or something.”
Annya:
It’s normal for a boyfriend to be nervous about his girlfriend’s father and you’ve
already had to deal with one. How are you feeling about a new father figure to
impress?
Laughing, he runs a hand through his hair. “That’s one
way to put it. But, I’m not going anywhere, and he’s not her dad, so we’ll
figure it out.”
Annya:
To prepare for today, I checked in with the rumor mill to see what I might find
about all of you. What was said about you was quite interesting. Is it true you
used to do drugs?
“That’s something I decline to comment on.”
Annya:
What do Justine and her mom think of your past?
“I like to think they know who I am. I work every day
to earn back trust any former mistakes might have cost me.”
Annya:
I guess that confirms the rumor mill’s information that you’re dad is a lawyer.
What does Dirk think of your past?
“I can’t comment on what anyone else thinks of me. I
would only be guessing.”
Annya: Final question, where can readers
find more of your story?
“Would You Have Believed Me? Is now available for
preorder on Amazon it will be publishing the 10th of next month.”

My cab pulls up outside a nondescript suburban house with tan siding in Adnerba, Ohio and I tug my bag with notebooks and pens after me, swinging it over my shoulder. You’re Annya Quintero, you can do this. So what if this is the first interview you’ve done where your name is connected to it? You’ve got this! Shivering against the winter blast, I start up the front walk, passing a hulking man with auburn hair and amber eyes. I smile at him, readying to see if he knows where Camille is, but the glower he gives me makes me rethink the idea.
When I ring the doorbell the front door swings open and a petite girl with brilliant gray eyes stands smiling up at me. “You must be Annya! Come in, Mom is back in the kitchen. You’re interviewing her first, then my boyfriend Eric, and…
A friend was having problems coming up with ideas of what to blog about and I suggested blogging about her best friend who was trying to become an author. She took it one step further and decided to interview me. So below is the link to her blog complete with the interview. Please click it and hopefully you will follow her blog as well
I am gonna put a snippet of a story I am working on that I would love to hear what you think of it.
I am looking to work through my writer’s block and would like to do a bit of an interview with the Main Character in my next Post!
So here it goes:
Chapter 1
Present Day
It is January of 2019, as I look in the mirror that my father had given to me on my thirteenth birthday. I can’t help but be reminded of my Grandmother of who I have been named after. My name is Shyanne Marie Pebley. I am the only child of my mother and father, Marie and Antonio Pebley. While my mother was delighted, my father was a bit less pleased when he found out I was a girl and not the boy he had been hoping for, but I quickly won him over and became Daddy’s little girl. The spitting image of my father, with long, wavy ash brown hair, large, chocolate brown eyes, and standing at a height of 5 feet and 5 inches. At 24, I am in my Senior year At Sagewick Falls University, studying for my BS in Forensic Science. I want to become a Coroner. My phone ringing brings me out of my thoughts. When I pick it up and answer it, I find out it is my Grandfather asking me to join him and my cousin in his study today, for a meeting of some sort. It had been several years since the death of my father and I was curious to know if this had something to do with that. “Shyanne, it’s so nice to see you again and on such better circumstances,” my cousin said as we both reach my Grandfather’s study at just about the same time. “Yes, it is, Allan, how are you doing?” I asked politely. “Very well thank you and yourself? How are your studies at Sagewick Falls University?” he responded. Like he cares I thought to myself, but said instead. “I am studying hard and making the grades. I should actually be graduating early this summer.” “Wow, that is fantastic!” Just then our Grandfather opened his study doors and motioned for both of us to come in.
When we had both taken a seat, our Grandfather said, “I’m sure you are both wondering why I ask you here today.” “Yes Grandfather, are you feeling alright?” I had responded back in kind. “Yes, my dear Shyanne, I am doing just fine. The reason I wanted to talk to you both is that Allan I would like you to find the one who killed your Uncle Antonio, and Shyanne, I would like you to use your knowledge of chemicals and figure out what they used to induce the heart attack as well as how they made it look like one.”
I was shocked. I know my face has turned red, and I felt like I couldn’t breathe. All I could think was, why wasn’t I being asked to kill the one who ultimately killed my father? This is ridiculous. He is my father after all. Allan recovered first and so answered first. “Yes Grandfather, I will avenge this family’s name.” After he had spoken, he stood up, shook our Grandfather’s hand and left the room. This left just me and my Grandfather. “I know what you are thinking Shyanne. I am sorry. You have a potential where you are at currently and I am not about to jeopardize that for you or for the future of this family.” I could not believe the words that he was saying. He might have basically said he wanted me barefoot and pregnant because that is basically what I felt he had said. Instead of saying something I might regret later, I just got up and left.
